Thinning Hair Products for Men and Women

Thinning Hair Products

Hundreds of thinning hair products now flood the global market as millions of people around the world – regardless of gender and social status – suffer from hair loss and thinning hair every day.

While there are several shampoo for thinning hair and thinning hair remedies that promise to prevent and reverse hair loss, there is no clinical study that would prove that these products really work.

This is because thinning hair is a normal process that cannot be prevented. Every day, we shed off at least a hundred strands of hair due to simple combing and some 300 strands are pulled off every time we take a shower and use shampoo according to the American Academy of Dermatologists.

Causes of Thinning Hair

Causes of thinning hair in women and men are often the same – aging process, hormonal imbalance, underlying illnesses – although most women suffer from hair loss during menstruation and menopausal years and from the excessive use of chemical-based hair products that are harmful to the scalp and the hair in general.

And because thinning hair in both genders almost have the same causes, manufacturers of thinning hair products are making big money by promising instant relief on the problems of thinning hair, baldness, and hair loss.

But when you ask your doctor about these products, they will surely say that these products have no effects at all and others may even cause harm to your hair.

Why Hair Gets Thin?

Thinning hair has always been considered a natural part of the aging process and when the person experiences hormonal imbalances. Hair is naturally nourished and conditioned by the body's natural oil called sebum.

Sebum is produced by the sebaceous glands and then passes through the hair follicles and pores to get to the hair. When a person ages or when the person experiences hormonal changes, the level of testosterone in the body suddenly increases and creates the harmful dihydrotestosterone or DHT.
DHT attacks the susceptible hair follicles and prevents the flow of sebum to the hair. When sebum is blocked, the scalp becomes dry and the hair will start to die.To control hair loss, therefore, means attacking the DHT before its spreads to the entire head, eventually causing baldness.

But none of the thinning hair products has effectively addressed this fact. Some products, including shampoo for thinning hair, promises to regrow hair while others claim they can prevent hair loss by just allowing the hair to continue growing.

According to the American Academy of Dermatologists, hair loss is hormonal and thus the thinning hair products must be aimed at stabilizing the hormones instead of promises to keep the hair thick and growing.Other thinning hair products, however, admit that they cannot prevent hair loss but they can continue to nourish what is left of the hair.

These products are far more believable than those who insist that they can prevent hair loss. Hair experts claimed that hair products must be used only for the continued nourishment of the hair and not as prevention for hair loss.

Shampoos for Thinning Hair

There are shampoos, hair oil, hair gel, hair lotion, and other products that claim to be thinning hair remedies but these claims have no basis at all.

Some of the products available in the market include the following:

  • Thinning hair shampoos
Promise instant result by addressing the root cause of the loss and keeping the hair nourished for continued growth. So far, none of these shampoos have been scientifically proven to work and some are even harmful to the scalp due to the presence of chemicals. Those who are experiencing hair loss are advised to see a hair expert first before using chemical-based shampoos to ensure that the use of the product will not be harmful to the scalp and the hair.
  • Thinning hair conditioner
Claim to contain natural elements and herbal extracts that can prevent hair loss and nourish the scalp. While natural extracts have conditioning agents that can nourish the hair, clinical research showed that these natural products can not actually prevent hair loss but can only keep the remaining hair shiny and healthy.
  • Scalp massager
By massaging and stimulating the scalp, DHT and other dirt particles that block the follicle can allegedly be removed, thus allowing sebum to flow normally and promote continuous hair growth. No scientific basis as of this time and some experts even warn that using hair massager could harm the scalp and the head.
  • Horse shampoos
Horses grow long, thick, and healthy hair and most people believe that the secret to the horses' great hair is the horse shampoo they use. Some people who are experiencing hair loss resort to using horse shampoos but still to no avail because even without those shampoos horses will continue to grow thick hair because they have different hormones.
  • Natural hair products
There are also 100 percent natural hair products that are commercially available, promising an all-natural cure to the problem of hair loss. But, as mentioned above, these natural extracts only addresses the need of the existing hair for nourishment and do not go deep into the root of the problem. Natural hair products, however, are good to use to ensure that the hair you have left will not be damaged and will continue to be nourished.
  • Artificial hair
For those who do not want to use chemical-based products or do not believe that natural extracts can cure thinning hair, the market is also flooded with artificial hair that can hide the areas of the head that are slowly losing hair. Hair pieces for thinning hair abound, some offers choices of colors, length, and style and, of course, these hair pieces do not have side effects.

Thinning Hair is Natural

While there are no effective thinning hair products that are available in the market, addressing thinning hair actually does not need chemicals or formulas. Thinning hair is common to millions of men and women around the world and embracing the reality that it is a natural part of the aging process or a result of hormonal imbalance can really ease up the psychological effect of having thinning hair.

Thinning Hair Remedies

Natural and clinical thinning hair remedies are available worldwide as millions and millions of people, both men and women, experience hair loss and receding hairline everyday. Thinning hair is common to men and women although the real causes of thinning hair in women are still being determined by hair experts.

Nowadays, it is common to see people with thinning hair and receding hairline in various places – in offices, inside trains and buses, in malls, and even in the neighborhood. They are all over the place and because the number of people experiencing hair loss is growing everyday, hair experts and scientists are working day and night to make the most effective thinning hair remedies.

Causes of Thinning Hair in Women

Thinning hair is a common problem that has affected millions of people around the world although causes of thinning hair in women has not been fully studied and researched. Thinning hair and baldness, which used to be common problems among men, have now also become major concerns of women.

The American Academy of Dermatologists claim that there are at least 30 million women in the United States that are suffering from various forms of hair problems. What is more interesting to note is that thinning hair, the type that is caused by aging, is prevalent in younger women compared to men. Even with this fact, women are not readily accepting the fact that they, too, have to experience receding hairlines and eventually baldness.

Hairpieces for Thinning Hair

Hairpieces for thinning hair are artificial thinning hair products that can be worn to hide the effects of thinning hair, thin hair, baldness, and hair loss. Hairpieces are effective means to conceal thinning hair, especially in women where baldness and hair loss usually cause embarrassment, anxiety, and depression. These are made up of other people's hair or, in most cases, synthetic strands that look like the real hair. Hairpieces come in different color, length, and style, and can be attached to the existing hair easily and quickly.

Most people who experience hair loss and thinning hair resort to the use of hairpieces, including the wig and hair extensions, to conceal the real condition of their hair. Those who are into hairpieces have grown tired of looking for other thinning hair products that promises instant result but did not deliver. That is because no scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of those commercially-available thinning hair products in preventing hair loss. There are a lot of shampoos for thinning hair and other thinning hair remedies in the market that promise to prevent loss but have you ever wonder why there are still millions of people who are experiencing thinning hair and baldness?

Thinning Hair

Hair is man's crowning glory and some people are willing to spend thousands of dollars to avoid thinning hair that eventually could lead to baldness. Because the hair is one of the most visible parts of the body, it is important that the hair is thick, styled-well, and nourished to keep it against baldness and to give a good impression to other people. In other countries, certain hair styles define the status of the person sporting it, while in some tribes, bald women are considered sexy and beautiful. Thinning hair men are often subjects to ridicule and jokes so people shell out money to buy vitamins for thinning hair, hoping that they can bring back the health of the hair and keep it growing once again.

In most cases, thinning hair is a normal part of the aging process. Older men get thinning hair because their bodies have stopped producing hormones that protect the scalp from DHT or dihydrotestosterone. DHT forms in the scalps and then blocks the hair follicles, preventing the flow of sebum, the oil that nourishes the hair and acts as natural conditioner. When sebum is blocked, the hair will eventually lost its source of nourishment and stop growing. When not immediately addressed, DHT further destroys the hair follicles that will then cause hair loss. Thinning hair is not just limited to women because the problem of thinning hair women has also been the subject of various scientific studies to determine why some women get thinning hair.

Thinning Hair Women

Baldness has long been a common problem affecting millions of men around the world for years until hair experts made shocking revelations – the number of thinning hair women is also becoming increasingly alarming. In the United States alone, women with thinning hair has reached at least 30 million and millions more are sharing the same fate around the world.

What is more shocking is that hair loss in women occur at an earlier age compared to the problem of thinning hair men, with reported cases of thinning hair women as early as 15 years old. The effect of hair loss among women is also evident on the entire top portion of the head and, in some cases, the entire area of the head. Psychologically, it affects women's self-esteem and morale and can even lead to depression.

It is of this reason that hair implantation is only done on areas where the chance of growing hair naturally is zero.
